What we withdrew: volume as a magnet to any level
A broader claim passed only because one input had used trades the session printed later. With honest inputs it did not pass, so we withdrew it.
What we claimed
A broader study looked at many kinds of levels at once, including the prior session's levels and the overnight range. It appeared to show that volume along the route attracts price toward any level, not just the point of control.
What went wrong
A routine check that every input uses only what was known at that minute found that one input, the volume along the route to each level, had counted prices the session only traded later.
The re-test
We re-ran the test with honest inputs under a pass rule written before the run. The effect held on ES but not on NQ or GC, so the claim did not pass. We withdrew it.
The same check found no such problem in the other studies. Their volume findings (Volume pulls price toward it) stand.
What we kept
- Descriptively, a thin route toward any level still goes with price reaching it less often, in every market and period. We report this as a description only, not as a tested claim.
- Prior-session value edges, highs and lows were reached less often than distance predicts in every market and period. They act as resistance.
We publish this on purpose. A research group that never reports a mistake is not looking hard enough.
How these numbers are produced and compared: our method. Every change to this finding is dated in the research log. Historical results only; not a forecast and not a trading system. See the disclaimer.
